Final evaluation of 1st Bachillerat

In my opinion this blog is a good instrument to practice our domination of the English language and improve writings. But in a personal way, this blog had given to me more knowledge about uses of many words and the general uses of the verbal times. Before begins the blog of this year my use of English was very bad, but now I think I have improve. Moreover, writings are better than last yea, but they aren't the best, I must to improve this aspect. Also, I sometimes copy information in internet, but I put them in cursive. You think that is not the best way to improve my English, I don't think the same, but I respect your opinion and for this I won't do this never more. I know the next year we must do other blog and for this, I will to improve my English this summer going to extra classes.

 

Opinion essay

In my opinion the global pollution in our world is one of the worst problems caused by humans, in the chemical factories and industries. Furthermore, I think the rich developed countries are the main producers of pollution in the blue sea and,of course, in environment.

First, pollution is a problem of many years ago that the environmental groups of people have fought. While, the chemical factories aren't doing anything to avoid this problem, they are killing a lot of species. So, there are many endangered species. In addition, we don't know the future effects that the global pollution will do in our planet: we are killing the Earth with our waste products. For example, the Spanish linxs are at risk of extinction.

Finally, we must improve this situation to bring a better life to the future generations, because our parents had done this with us. One possible way to do this,is shutting down all the chemical and nuclear factories.                                                     

Summer 2013

This summer will be diferent of others because I will get 17 years old. Maybe you thing that I can use this expression with the others six-teen years passed of my life, but NO. I said that because this summer will be the most different in my life because I will do a lot of new thinks that I never have done:

1- I will study idioms during summer to leave Spain after university. Yes, I say that because I think the future in Spain is uncertain for the teenagers. For this, this summer I will study English and French in a language school. Problably, I will study in Figueres with Santiago, a good friend from the city.

2- Travel to England to practise my english. Maybe, if I aprove my notes of bachillerat, I will travel to London with an native family of the capital of England. For this, I will study a lot during the final exams of June to travel. If is not posible, I will upload notes also in June.

3- Do my research project during this summer. In bachillerat, on of the most important thing to do is our research project. But my project is a bit different because I must plant a seed of grass in 22 flower pots, put herbicides on them and look the results during summer. For this, I must break down my laziness and be responsible to do my reserch project.

4- Be more friendly with my friends of my little village. During bachillerat I didn't be friendly with my friends in Vila-sacra because I was studying and playing football. But this summer I want to get back and do things with my friends, for example: go swimming, play summer sports, go to cinema and parties...

 

Film: Iron Man 3

Three weeks ago I went to see the film Iron man 3. I went with two good friends, Gerard and Andriy. I met Gerard since my childhood in the village where we live: Vila-sacra. But I met Andriy only 3 years ago, when I was in ESO. We had decided to look this movie because we are declared fans of Marvel comics. Well, really I don't like much movies about heroes who save a girl with their powers, It's very surrealistic. Now I know the meaning of sci-fi movies. After look the movie, my head was already exploited, music and effects of the movie were to high. One time my head became normal, We went to the bowling of Figueres, at 100m of cinemas (we get tired). At twelve o'clock we returned to Vila-sacra, but before enter to our homes, we went to my home. There, we played games and we ate the leftover sweets of the cinema. We went to sleep at two o'clock. It was a good day with two good friends. We would repeat it!!

One day the rabbit Adrian got up at six o'clock. Then he went to brush his two teeth and he took of his pijamas and he had a shower. When he finished he put on his best dress. At ten o'clock he went out with the dear Roselin. They went shopping and Roselin tried on some clothes that Adrian had bought for her. Rabbit Adrian's boss rang him up to work in the afternoon immediatly speeded up to his business and come in to the work. At twelve o'clock at night he broke down and he returned home. But in the way he dropped of and he had an accident. He goes to the Rabbit sky.

Breast cancer trials 'failing to save younger patients'

Summary:

A lack of clinical trials aimed at younger breast cancer patients could be partly to blame for longer-term survival problems, experts believe. The study, funded by Cancer Research UK and the Wessex Cancer Trust, analysed nearly 3,000 women under 40 in the UK with diagnosed breast cancer. It found a rapid rise in relapse after five years in younger patients with a certain type of the cancer. Breast cancer is mostly diagnosed in post-menopausal women, although those with a diagnosis under 40 represent fewer than 5% of all breast cancers treated in the UK.

 

 

Opinion:

I think the breast cancer is the most cause of kills in woman's. In my opinion, doctors and experts must research to cure this disease definitely. But especially the breast cancer in young womens because they are the future of the world and they can be an example to other womens to survive front cancers. Unfortunately, this study is bad because It says that the young womens with cancer rise relapse after five years. This type of cancer in the under 40 years old represents under 5% of all cases, but this isn't an excuse to not study the breast cancer in young women. This is a terrible problem to the young and old womens, we must help them. I have read this news on BBC news.

Iraq uncovers al-Qaeda "chemical weapons plot"

Summary:

The authorities in Iraq say they have uncovered an al-Qaeda plot to use chemical weapons, as well as to smuggle them to Europe and North America. Al-Qaeda in Iraq is believed the only offshoot of the Islamist militant network to have used chemical weapons. It detonated a 16 crude chlorine bombs in Iraq between October 2006 and June 2007. Chlorine inhalation made many hundreds of people sick, but no deaths resulting from exposure to the chemical were recorded, US officials said at the time. Instead, the bomb blasts are believed to have caused the fatalities.

 

Opinion:

I think that al-Qaeda has killed a lot of people around the world and It has spread terror in Irak. For this, this new is good because the police of Irak has uncovered chemical weapons to attack Europe and America. If it is true, the police that has done it will be heroes in Irak because they has stopped an global attack. But if the new isn't true, the police must be arrested and be interrogate by the government in Irak, maybe they are assistants of al-Qaeda. I have read the new on BBC news, It is a good news company.

Chemical secret

The name of the las book I have read is Chemical Secret. This book is better than the last book I have read, the moonspiners, because I like stories about experiments and biology, like Frankenstein. For this, I say this book is the best that I have ever read in English. It's very easy to read and understand because its level is 3 out of 5. For this, I think that, nowadays, my level of reading is 4 out of 5: the next book that I will choose will be this level. Now I will explain the argument of the book, I recomend it! 

 

The story is bout one men who lives in a small flat near the sea with his two children: Cristine and Andrew. The family was rather poor because Jhon, the main character, haven't job and the mother of the family is died. One day, the businessman of the village, David Wilson, called John for an job interview. David Wilson offer a job a as biologist to John in his chemical company: He accepts inmediatly. After that, Jhon buys a new house and one boat to sail it: they become a rich family. But one day when family was sailing by boat, the main character found out that the waste products that the chemical company was pulling in the river were toxics. They were killing the seals of the river. For this, an environmental group of young people came to the village and protested to save the seals. Finally, the chemical company was closed and John became poor again.

When does your mental health become a problem?

Summary:

One in four people are expected to experience a mental health problem, yet stigma and discrimination are still very common. Myths such as assuming mental illness is somehow down to a 'personal weakness' still exist. A person who is considered 'mentally healthy' is someone who can cope with the normal stresses of life and carry out the usual activities they need to in order to look after themselves; can realise their potential; and make a contribution to their community. However, your mental health or sense of 'wellbeing' doesn't always stay the same and can change in response to circumstances and stages of life.

 

 

 

 

Opinion:

I think that the mental illnes are relative for each person because the mind of the people is different. I say that because every person has different mental healt and, consequently, the mental illnes changes from a person to another. Also, the mental illnes changes are determinated from other religions, cultures and societies. For this, the person considered "mentally healthy" in Irak, maybe, in Europe that person is considered a criminal. For example, Bin Laden is a terrorist in all the world expect in Irak, there He is a hereo. Well, maybe this is not the best example, but is an example of the relativism of the mental health for each culture or religión. I've read this news on BBC news.

SPANISH EDUCATION

1. Introduction

Hello, my name is Adrià Grabulosa and now I will explain you a little bite more about the education in Spain. In this presentation I will explain general and specific stuff about the spanish education. The general stuff that I will explain you, are: the general education in Spain and its differents stages. But, the specific stuff that I will coment you are more interesting: the education cuts in Spain. Now, I start my presentation showing you a little structure of the project:

2. Global education

The general definition of education is: Education, in its general sense, is a form of learning in which skills and knowlegde of a group of people are transferred from one generation to the next through teaching, training...

2.1. Preschools

Preschools education is important because It can give a child the edge in a competitive world giving the fundamentals knowledge, for example: alphabet, counting, shapes and colors. The education cuts in preschools affects the children who don't have the opportunity of learn because theirs families haves economic problems, because they can't go to nursery with bus or they can't pay it. The children who have affected by the education cuts in preschool, probably, in their adolescence will have problems with numbers and writting.

2.2. Primary schools

In this stage, the children receives more than the fundamental knowledges, they receives the principals knowledges to applied theirs in the secundary schools. For this, the education cuts that children have in this stage is one of the most important in their lives because this it's essencial. The stuff that the education cuts have changed in this stage are: more students in classroom, less teachers for each student and less money for the primary school.

2.3. Secondary schools

The purpose of secundary education can be to give common knowledge, to prepare for higher education or to train directly in a profession. The stuff that the education cuts have changed are the same of the primary school, but the effects on this stage are more decisive than others because on the secondary education the students learn knowledges to use them in our society, for this, I think that the education cuts in the secondary schools will mark the future of the world.

2.4. Higher education

Higher education is taken to include undergraduate and postgraduate education. Univertisities are the main institutions where you will study the career that you want. The principal problem that the eduaction cuts have done in the higher schools is the money increment of the universities registers. This education cuts is the worse because the students can't study in universities and they are unemployed.

Conclusion

The conclusion of my project is that the spanish government is destroying the education is our country with the education cuts and It's decreasing the culture of the young spanish people.

 

 

 

Self-evaluation:

Body language and eye contact (10%)

The body language that I utilised during my presentation was good because I have moved my hands and my body to explain all the stuff of power point. I think that my body language doing presentations was good, but the thing that I want to improve is the eye contact with people. But my problema is when I'm looking people during my presentation I get nervous. This is a thing that I get to improve for future presentations. I think my mark is 6 out of 10.

 

Presentation and structure (20%)

The presentation that I used in my project was the best program for me: Power Point. I think that because It's a good program to do high school presentations and put in a lot of pictures. But, in my opinion, this kind of progam is used to do informal projects, because to do formal projects, for example  job interviews, the best program is prezi. For this, I used the power point to do my high school project.

On the other hand, I think that the structure of my presentation was good because I have organized the information in descencing order of importance. I said that because I have organized the different stages of the spanish education in order of time and importance. I think the mark is 15 out of 20.

 

Content (40%)

I think the content of project is the most important thing. For this, I have thought in an interesting and modern social topic: spanish education and its cuts. You can see up on the text the thinks that I have spoken about my topic. Also, you can watch the video but It's not necessary. I hope the mark is 35 out of 40.

 

Vocabulary and grammar (20%)

The vocabulary that I used in the presentation was good because I think It's the level that you call for in bachillerat. For this, I have used normal words, but also, I have introduced new words, for example: education cuts, knowledge, undergraduate... I think a project with this caracteristics is the way to improve our oral comunication, but also, is the form to learn news words in english. I thing the mark is 15 out of 20.

 

Pronunciation and entonation (10%)

I think my pronunciation and entonation is the worse in the class. I don't know the reason of that, but I have to improve this aspect urgently. For this, I think the mark of the pronunciation is bad, 4 out of 10.

 

Final mark

I think my final mark, doing add of points, would be a 7'5. I think the next presentation that I will do, I want to improve my pronunciation and entonation to have the mark of 8. It's my objective for the next presentation.

The moonspinners

The last book I've read was better than others because It explains a story about Greek mythology and an unusual murder that happened one hundred years ago. I don't like the Greek mythology because I'm not religious but I like stories with murders, secrets and riddles. For example, my favourite book is Sherlock Holmes. This book was written by Mary Stewart  and It has a cinematographic version made by Walt Disney. Now, I explain a little bit more about the story:

 

The story begins when Nicola Ferris, the real main character of the book, arrives in the Cretan village of Agios Georgios. She goes to Crete because she loves the old village where her mother  was born. During the first day in the village all was good, but the second day was different. I say that because she was involved in a strange murder. Then, Nicola knew the knife wielding of the hotel where She has resided. But He isn't the true worker in the hotel, He's the protector of Mark Langley, an innocent British tourist who knows the real murderer. Nicola and Mark fell in love and He said to the main character who's the true murderer: He's Collin, the mayor of Agios Georgios.

 

Gap year

A gap year is a period of one year that you travel to some places after you have finished the secondary school. It's a year to realx after you studied for a lot of years. A lot of students are taking this type of year, but this helps them or not.

 

On the one hand, this King of travel would give you new knowledge of other countries that maybe you never get to know. You also have a year to visit a lot of villages of the country and forget the urban city of your country. In addition, you can learn other languages, other religions and new cultures. Finally, maybe you can meet a girlfriend in the country that you visit. They have a year to relax themselves.

 

On the other hand, you can lose 365 days far from the family, but you can call them with new technologies. In addition, depending on the country, people can be stolen or hurt themselves, for example Mexico.

 

In conclusion, all these posibilities depend on the kind of travel you can do. In my opinion, with this type of year you have a lot of posibilities to learn things but you also lose a lot of knowledge that you learn in the school.

Description of a place

The place where I will to describe is Rio de Janeiro. I have chosen it because I went to the city four years ago and I remember it with very emotion and longing. In 2007, I went to the city with my parents and we stay there for one week. We visited more cities than Rio de Janeiro, for example Salvador de Bahia and Brasilia. But Rio de Janeiro was better than other cities. For this, I have chosen to describe Rio de Janeiro.

Rio de Janeiro isn't the capital of Brasil, but it's the longest city. The roads of city are extremely congested and rather loud because there are a lot of cars. On one hand, in the mornings, the streets are less bustling because people are working in the big skyscrapers, they are really friendly people. On the other hand, all the black night, all the people in the city are completely smiling because in Brasil, the night is a synonym of the good party. In Rio de Janeiro there are two kinds of cities: one is extremely poor and the other is fairly rich. In the poor city (Favelas), the old pavement is pretty cracked and all buildings are really shabby and they are crumbling. But, in the rich city, the transports are slightly expensive, pavement is rather clean and there are a lot of modern skyscrapers.

Finally, I think that Rio de Janeiro is one of the most beautiful cities in the world because it have a lot of beaches, people are really friendly and there are a lot of things to do. For example, when we stay in city, we visited the Corcobado Christ, a lot of important museums and the big skyscrapers. But, for me, the best thing about the city is happiness and education of people.

 

 

 

Animal in me



 

The animal that the test give me is one of the king of Africa: Tiger. I don't agree with the result of the test because Its personallity is not similar to mine. But in my childhood I drew all the time tigers on my notebook and I saw a lot of documentaries about the life of this special animal. I like this animal but we haven't the same personallity. The tiger is one of the best animals in the African jungle because he is strong and wild, I'm not the kind of person that these adjectives say. Also, about the career, there are some with that I agree, for example engineer. But there are some with that I don't agree, for example trial lawyer. In a future, I want to work for health service, for this I like to study a science degree. I like the hobbies that the test given to me because I like do sport and see action movies. The result of the test of "An animal in me" is this:


Tigers are handsome and powerful people with an innate self-confidence and elegance. In social situations, the tiger is an excellent host and there is no such thing as a casual party in its home. Guests can always expect a memorable occasion with an extravagance of food and drink, and yet, there is a distinct coldness to its den. Having sacrificed comfort for style, the tiger outfits its house with austere and modern furniture, and even the comfortably worn easy chairs are replaced every few years. Unlike the family oriented lion, tigers are solitary creatures who hate to lie around doing nothing. In this regard they have more in common with wildcats and leopards, who are always on the move. Because of this antisocial nature it can be difficult to discern a tiger's true motives, and they are considered unpredictable and enigmatic. They have a strong aversion to routine in their daily life, and their spontaneity and energy infect others who are graced with their presence.

Tigers dislike small talk in the workplace and expect professionalism from coworkers, demanding the highest standards in their business dealings. With their killer instincts tigers could be excellent trial lawyers and have no hesitation in using aggression as an advantage. Acutely aware of their ability to intimidate, their single-mindedness enhances the tiger's reputation as a force to be reckoned with. Because of their preference for solitude, however, tigers are not natural leaders. While perfectly capable of assuming the role of a CEO, they prefer the challenges inherent in self-employment. Tiger businesses are invariably successful and cover a wide range of industries, from engineering to retailing.

Book: Todos los cuentos

The last book I have read was one of the most boring book that I have ever read in my life. I say that because during the reading of the book I slept two times, It was a really boring book. This book was an obligated reading in Spanish class, for this, I read book with any will. The book was structured by four big histories, but ich one has four more smaller histories. We only had to read a half part of the book, two stories of four, but two big stories have four smaller histories, consequently, we had to read eight stories and we had to memorize all protagonist of each one to do the spanish exam. The book has written with the old form of spanish language, therefore, the stories were more boring. I don't understand how this horrible book have been read by a lot of people, because in opinion of me and the students of my class, the spanish book was very poor and boring. After making the spanish exam ,I put book under a black place to not knowing anything of it. The last week, I have known that I have an 8 in the exam, It's a good mark.

 

    

F.C Barcelona: ¿Personality crisis?

Some years ago the F.C Barcelona team was considered the best football team in the world because It won three times the Champions League and others titles in five years. Also, the game of team was considered the best in the world because the coach Pep Guardiola created a new form to look football thanks, in the major part, to a lot of fantastic football players: Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Henry, Puyol... But now, the two last weeks, the F.C Barcelona football team lost three games very importants with Real Madrid and Milan. But this isn't reason to say the team has a personality crisis, no, the image shown during these matches is the true reason. I say that because in these three last matches with these two rivals the play of F.C Barcelona It's the worse in many years. Also, I think reason of the recent defeats is illnes of the first coach of team, Tito Vilanova, caused by a laringe tumour. Absence of the first coach of team has produced a performance drop into play of team, but I think that F.C Barcelona is enabled to improve his game because It has very good players but, specially, the best football player in the world, Leo Messi. I hope that we improve the image in future matches and win the Milan team in the quarters of the Champion League.

Personal Opinion:

I like this song because It speaks about how to be a member of the hall of fame and how to find yourself. The group "The script" is one of my favourite pop music group and, in this video, appear the voice of will.i.am, member of other music group called "Black Eyed Peas". I like voice of singers. Also, I agree with what it says, how to succes for find yourself.

Spartacus: blood and sand

Recently, I started to watch a new series called Spartacus: blood and sand. This series explain life and adventures of thracian men who fought at war with the Roman empire. But the men escaped from the Roman soldiers, therefore, they captured Spastaco and put hirself into a battlefield in Rome. There, the protagonist train and fight with other gladiators. Nowadays, I have looked only few chapters of the New Zealander series. I think that this series is very interesting and intriguing because at the final of each chapter you don't know that will hapen in the next chapter. Also, I liked this kind of  series because I like the Roman stage and look the gladiators fights. My plans for future are view the complete series every weekend because during week I have a lot of exams and works. This isn't the only TV series I watch, I also watch other kind of series, for example: The Walkind Dead and The Simpsons. But Spartacus: blood and sand is the best series I have watched since 2012.

One experience

The last year, 5 December of 2012, I went to look a game of F.C Barcelona with one of my best friends, Santiago Chavarriaga. We went to Barcelona the day before match because the family of my friend have a big home in the central of city, concretly, in the Passeig de Gràcia. The day of the match, we went to the Camp Nou, field of F.C Barcelona, at 20:45 p.m. We went in this hour because the day of match was Champions League and team played front the Benfica team. The match was unimportant because the team of barcelona was clasified to play the following phase of the competition. Therefore, the players who played the match were infrequently football players, for example: Song, Pinto, Sergi Roberto... But, approximately,  around the minute 70 Leo Messi began to play the match from footstool. But ten minutes after, the goalkeeper of Benfica hurt Messi and the F.C Barcelona emergency came to took the football player to hospital. We had a good time in Camp Nou, but we had worried abou the illness of Leo Messi. It was a great day with a big friend.
