In class, I watched the film and I read the book of Romeo and Juliet. After doing this, I can see a lot of differences:
- The costume: in the book, the costume is medieval clothes and in the film the persons wear modern clothes.
- The place: in the book, the story happened in the old and the medieval city of Verona but in the film the story is set in the modern and technological city of Miami.
- The elements: in the book, the elements used to explain the history are: poisons, horses, swords... But in the film the elements used to represent represent the scenes are: guns, bombs, cars, polices...
- The vocabulary/language: the language utilized in the book is more medieval and educated, than the language used in the film, more modern and colloquial (with insults)
- The protagonists: in the book, the protagonists are older than the protagonists in the film.
